Jesus takes the cross on his shoulders

Wear and endure

Jesus is charged the transom, where he is to be crucified. Without fighting back, he wears it like the other two defendants. Doesn't that remind us of his earlier enigmatic message:

“Who my disciple, my disciple, wants to be, take his, take up your cross and follow me” (vgl. Mt 16,24)
accept life, the way it is. – Everyone dreams of a beautiful future, of a fulfilling life. But the reality is different for most people. The words from above sound harsh, they admonish us and do not invite us down an easy path. Let's remember the pictures from the newspapers and news. – sisters and brothers, who are persecuted for the sake of their faith, humiliated, to be killed. – Kinder, whose life is taken, before it has really started. - People, who have to live in and with conflicts, which they themselves are not to blame for.

But working life does not bring fulfillment for everyone, which it should actually bring. Today many people suffer from unjust structures in our society, through inhumane working conditions. Quite a few have to do stupid and mindless work, are exploited and work sixteen-hour days every day. – Still other people are still being treated like cattle and used as modern-day slaves. – Others are pushed out of the job from the age of forty and then end up at the job center as difficult to place, where the whole situation makes her doubt the meaning of life and severely scratches her dignity.

Last but not least, the other creatures on earth should also be considered at this point. – What torments we burden them with? – How much do we persecute and exploit them – often without even thinking about it, that she too, as we, are God's creatures? Let's read carefully, so says di.e. Hl. write none of this, that we exploit them, abuse or even kill for our amusement or to satisfy our greed!
